Getting to and from the Gulf Islands requires a trip on the BC Ferries.  These ferries run 7 days a week from both Vancouver and Vancouver Island.  The most frequent sailings to the 5 major Gulf Islands are from Tsawwassen, south of Vancouver, and from Swartz Bay, near Victoria.  Vehicle reservations for BC Ferries are available or travellers can also simply walk or ride their bikes on.  Ferry sailings are increased during the summer months and long weekends but vehicle line-ups can be common during these peak times.  While on the ferry be sure to walk around the outside balcony as the views are nothing short of spectacular (especially if you are lucky enough to see whales!)
